THE REDHOUSE THEATER
NEW YORK, NY
The renovation work at this small regional theater and performance space is aimed at increasing attendance by improving audience enjoyment. The existing bleacher style seating was intolerably uncomfortable and afforded unsatisfactory sight lines to the stage. The design of a new seating platform increases capacity by ten percent and employs vintage red theater seats that provide both comfort and character. A single red strip of light along the back wall activates the space and expresses the experimental nature of this not-for-profit arts center.
