AUSTIN MUSEUM OF ART
AUSTIN, TX
A Gluckman Mayner Architects project; Mark Fiedler - Project Architect
Located in downtown Austin and fronting historic Republic Park, this 148,000-square-foot art museum contains 25,000 square feet of exhibit space and will serve as the new home for the Austin Museum of Art. Two large central galleries accommodate rotating exhibitions, with five additional galleries housing the museum’s permanent collection. An outdoor sculpture terrace featuring a living ‘green wall’ is situated at the top of the grand stairway. The dedicated Art and Technology gallery located on the second floor has the capability to project content onto the building’s facade and within the museum lobby. Additional public amenities include a 300-seat theater, museum store and café. Administrative offices located on the upper floor access a large balcony that shades the expansive entry plaza below and provides a venue for special museum functions that overlooks Republic Park.
